Trump Decree Imposes Entry Restrictions on Multiple Countries, Including Venezuela and Cuba

Previously, on Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order restricting the entry of Venezuelans and citizens of 11 other countries starting June 9. Every 180 days, U.S. authorities will decide whether to continue the new restrictions. The following is the full statement from the Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Ministry:

“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically condemns and rejects the campaign of stigmatization and criminalization launched against the Venezuelan people by the U.S. government, now expressed in a new attack that restricts the issuance and validity of visas for Venezuelan citizens, without any justification and with clear political and intimidating purposes.

This operation has been driven by the current Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, a public official known for his hatred toward the Venezuelan people, who has made systematic aggression his foreign policy, supported by the Venezuelan far right.

The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela reaffirms its unwavering commitment to defending the rights and interests of Venezuelans anywhere in the world and, in response to this new wave of aggression, reiterates its highest-level travel alert for the United States, warning that the country currently does not guarantee the minimum conditions of respect, dignity or legality for our citizens.

This is not an isolated incident, but a new demonstration of the visceral hatred toward the Venezuelan people that motivates those currently directing U.S. foreign policy.”
